Lake Michigan
On the 2nd day of driving to Aspen my Dad and I stopped at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore park on Lake Michigan. It was snowing decently hard and felt completely abandoned which made for some interesting high-key photos.

On the Move
I’m currently completing an internship at the Aspen Daily News in Aspen, CO for the winter season. I loaded up my car and left Lincoln the morning after Christmas with my Dad. On the first day of driving we stopped at Niagara Falls to get a break and stretch our legs.

Vacancy
Fall quarter at OU has wrapped up and I’m now back in my hometown of Lincoln, MA for the holidays. While at home in New England, I’d like to expand upon a portrait series of surfers in San Diego I did this past summer. I thought it would be an interesting concept to compare and contrast West coast surfing in the summer with Northeast surfing in the winter. I set out driving North today to the Rockport, MA to a beach called Long Beach. Unfortunately, there were no surfers and just as I got back in the car to drive farther North, it started raining. But the trip wasn’t a complete waste. It had been awhile since the last time I went to a new place and explored it with my camera. Its something that I really enjoy doing and should do more often.
Waterfront areas like Rockport have a very lonely feeling in the winter months. Places normally bustling with life during the summer are boarded up and left to survive the winter conditions. While wandering around, I payed a lot of attention to the houses and how empty they felt. Aside from a few dog walkers, the place felt abandoned. I’d really like to go back to the area and photograph just after a snow storm to help visually convey the feeling cold and emptiness. Stay tuned for more, and hopefully some portraits of surfers if I’m lucky.

This last image is from a stop at the White Elephant Anitique Shop in Essex, MA. I could wander around antique stores for hours looking for hidden treasures.

Lincoln, Ma to Athens, Oh with Foley
I was able to convince my buddy Ben to make the drive back to school with me from Lincoln. It was a fun 13 hour road trip that we split and knocked out in one day. He then hung out for a few days and enjoyed Athens.

Our block experienced a power outage so we took advantage of the darkness and played with some light painting.

We explored the Ridges – an abandoned Mental Hospital that OU purchased and converted some of the wards to admin offices.

California trip
I was fortunate enough this summer to spend some time with my brother, Chris, out in California where he lives these days. Since he lives so far from the rest of the family, its always a treat to spend some time with him.
I flew into Reno and spent the night in the Lake Tahoe area. We then drove to Kirkwood ski area where he competed in the Kirkwood Nine-to-Five mountain bike race. I hung out by the truck and fed my brother and his friend water and food over the 8 hour race.
The morning after the race, we got up early and drove the 10 hours or so to San Diego where my brother lives. I hung out there for a week and tried to keep myself busy by exploring while my brother and his girlfriend were at work during the days.

Driving through the Mojave Desert to San Diego

Cape Cod
My family rented a beautiful house on the Cape that was right on the beach. It was nice to spend the week relaxing oceanside with the family. The last frame is of Maise Crow, who came down to relax on the beach.
